As we already have our daily routine of drinking our Coconut in the evenings I have figuered out various ways to open a fresh green Coconut in order to insert a straw and drink the Coconut water. Here are five basic techniques, "cuts", with prerequisites and skill levels needed.
Machine Cut
Skill Level: Beginner
Prerequisites: Any type of Coconut, powerdrill
Drill one or two holes in the Coconut. Insert straw.
Square Cut
Skill Level: Advanced
Prerequisites: fresh green Coconut, sharp knive with a well pointed tip
Peel the top part of the Coconut. Punch a square by piercing the coconut holding the knive perpendicular.
Naked Cut
Skill Level: Expert
Prerequisites: Fresh green Coconut, sharp knife and strong hands
Peel the whole coconut until you hold a pale white piece of coconut in your hands. Continue with one of the other techniques.
Paradise Cut
Skill Level: Pro
Prerequisites: big knive / machete, speed, accuracy, power
Chop of the upper part of the nut with a single hit. In order to do so, you have to know the nut from the inside. Feel the nut. Be the nut. Know exactly where the inner water container is situated within the nut and derive from that the perfect chopping line. The hole has to have a size not too big and not too small. It should allow a glimpse to the inner clear water and the virgin pale flesh, but still it should cover enough to prevent the inside from being fully discovered and remaining a miracle. Pro tip: Chanting an inner secret "Om" while chopping helps. (the photo above is far away from how this should look like ...)
Berserker Cut
Skill Level: -
Prerequisites: violence
Get this damn thing open somehow. Use violence, some dull instruments, heavy machinery like a chainsaw, a big hammer or bare angry hands.
