We have a nice tree right beside our main entrance door. Since yesterday a small bird has constructed its nest some two meters above the ground in exactly this tree.
Well, he did not build the nest "in" the tree like normal birds would do: hidden between dense twigs and branches. No. He has chosen some loose ends and leafs that are hangig quite visible in the middle of the entrance courtyard. And his nest is an architectural masterpiece. The morphology reminds me of visionary drafts from Lebbeus Woods. It has a strong reference to the Paisley Design (or has the Paisley Design a strong reference to this type of nest?) And useless to mention that the whole construction is of course sustainable and easy to maintain.
Once I saw a documentary about this type of bird. I somehow remember that one main purpose of this nest is, to attract a partner. "This is my house. Wanna have sex with me?"
